Warmfront is a sleep and morning ritual. We built it to ask as little of you as possible. This page says plainly what the app touches, what it stores, and what it never does.
What we collect
- Nothing that identifies you, if you never sign in. The app works fully without an account. Your streak, settings, and sleep summaries live on your device.
- If you choose Sign in with Apple: we store your Apple account identifier and, if you share it, your email address, plus which daily editions you finished. That reading history is what syncs your sunrises across devices. Nothing else.
- If you leave your email on this site: your email address, used to write to you when membership opens. Unsubscribe is one click.
- One anonymous number a day: how long the morning edition took, from the first swipe to the sunrise. We receive a date and a count of seconds, nothing else, never tied to you, your device, or your account. It exists so we can prove Warmfront takes less of your time, not more.
The microphone
At night, with your permission, Warmfront uses the microphone as a live loudness meter: it measures the room’s sound level to fade the audio when you fall asleep, to sense restlessness, and to raise the morning at a light moment inside your wake window. It also listens, on the device, for the sound of snoring and coughing to describe your night. Audio is measured and immediately discarded. Unless you turn on snore recording, no audio is ever recorded, stored, or transmitted. Only per-minute counts of movement, snoring, and coughs are kept, on your device. If you turn on snore recording, short clips are saved on your phone only, playable and deletable in the Almanac; they are never uploaded.
Health data
If you connect Apple Health, Warmfront reads your sleep analysis to show your night in the Almanac, and, only if you allow it, saves your sensed sleep back to Apple Health. Health data never leaves your device and is never shared or sold.
What we never do
- No advertising, no trackers, no analytics brokers, no selling of any data.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
- No dark patterns: the app ends on purpose, every day.
Where data lives
Account data, reading history, mailing-list addresses, and the anonymous morning times are stored with Supabase, our database provider, in their managed infrastructure. News stories link out to their original publishers; opening a story’s source loads that publisher’s site under their policies.
Deleting your data
Delete your account inside the app (Settings, Account) or email us and we will erase your account and reading history promptly. Mailing-list removal is instant via the unsubscribe link.
Children
Warmfront is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
